Recovery Cafe of Madison

The Recovery Café of Madison began with a local peer recovery coach, Kurt Harker, who identified the need for the Recovery Café. Harker had helped to set up a Recovery Cafe in Lafayette, IN. Meetings with various community members determined that there was support for the cafe in Madison. In March 2022, an application was sent to the Recovery Café Network which was approved. The Recovery Cafe of Madison opened in February of 2023 in the Eggleston Community Building.

We are a part of the Recovery Café Network (RCN). The Recovery Café Network is comprised of member organizations committed to serving people suffering from homelessness, addiction, and other mental health challenges using the Recovery Café model.

Locally, we are supported by We Bloom, a 501 (c) 3 based in Indianapolis, IN. We Bloom serves as the Midwest Regional Catalyst of the Recovery Café Network

The Regional Catalyst program was developed to help identify and cultivate possible relationships with communities for current and new Recovery Cafes in the Midwest Region

The Recovery Café is a membership-based community meant to bring together those who have struggled with substance use, mental illness, and homelessness to help them make the shift from surviving to thriving! The Recovery Café  is peer-led to help drive relationships and lasting support systems, so members can continue to work on themselves as a whole person! All persons on all pathways to recovery are welcome to join at NO COST.
